The Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 mourns the loss of Commander Norris "Doc" Erickson

We lost a great American hero this week. Commander Erickson lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away on Monday. He was commander of the Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 for over two decades. He dedicated his live to the community, veterans and his friends and family. He was a man of integrity and character. He will be greatly missed. He loved America and all that it stood for.
A visitation is scheduled from 11 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. A memorial service is planned for 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial Day Cemetery Visitations
Every year members of the Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 visit four cemeteries to pay respects to the fallen veterans of our community.
We had a wonderful turnout this year, and were happy to see so many supporters from our local community. We will follow this same itinerary next year.
The members meet at the following:
8:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery located at 675 U.S. 30, Aurora
9:00 a.m. at Annunciation Cemetery located at 1820 Church Road, Aurora
9:30 a.m. at St. Micheal's Cemetery located on Route 25 at Mitchell Road
10:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery located at 1120 South Broadway Road (Rt 25), Aurora

Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 to host 2013 Independence Day Parade
AURORA: The Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 has agreed to again work with the City of Aurora to organize the 2013 American Independence Day Parade in Aurora. The American Legion stepped forward to organize the 2011 and 2012 Independence Day Parades that each drew a crowd of over 10,000 people. The post is again working with a parade committee, which is group of citizens from throughout the City of Aurora.
The 2012 Independence Day Parade was sponsored in part by the City of Aurora, Laborers Local 149, Hollywood Casino and Waubonsee Community College, in addition to many other organizations throughout Aurora and individual donations.
